Introduced in select Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) in aspirational districts, the multimodal pulse oximeter has transformed pneumonia management. Scaled up in seven states, the use of pulse oximetry at peripheral health outposts has been incorporated in Saans guidelines thus ensuring sustainability and integration with the national public health care delivery system.
Key Outcomes
- 4,846 children with Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) screened
- 1,288 children diagnosed with pneumonia
- 91% cases managed correctly as per protocol (vs none at baseline)
