Our Perspective
ICRG project was the first climate-focused project implemented by us in India. In many ways, it was ground-breaking as it aimed at mainstreaming climate considerations into MGNREGA. As the National Team Leader for ICRG, this project was one of many ‘firsts’ for me - the first time that I have ever worked on a rural sector programme, and the first time that I worked on climate issues. ICRG had significant outcomes – mainstreaming the approach in the states of Odisha, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, the Ministry of Rural Development including ‘climate considerations’ in the Annual Circular of MGNREGA, and the project being selected for presentation at the COP 24 in Katowice, Poland by MoEFCC, Government of India – again the first time that a MoRD project got selected. Project Udaan in Rajasthan aims to reduce teenage pregnancy and one of the key strategies is to improve access to contraceptives. Udaan has been working with NHM Rajasthan for effective roll-out of injectable contraceptive (Antara) services. Therefore, Rajasthan receiving an award by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare at the National Family Planning Summit, 2022 for effectively expanding the basket of contraceptive choices by making Antara services available upto the health sub-centres is a proud moment for the project.Ashish Mukherjee

Decision Support System (DSS), an innovative solution for frontline health workers and winner of the 5th Commonwealth Digital Health Awards, is a fitting example of how NIPI is catalysing innovations for India’s National Health Mission. This solution shall be a game changer for bolstering primary healthcare by ensuring access to evidence-based management by health providers.The tireless efforts in developing this innovative solution by the NIPI team at the state and national level and constant guidance and support by the donor- Government of Norway and IPE Global’s senior management deserves a special mention.
