Dar es Salaam Urban Jobs Programme (Dar Jobs)

Department for International Development (DFID)

The initiative was designed to tackle the high unemployment and underemployment rates in Dar es Salaam caused by the city's rapid growth.

The program was a £10 million initiative designed to tackle the high unemployment and underemployment rates in Dar es Salaam caused by the city’s rapid growth.

We conducted diagnostic studies across sectors, including market systems, policies, politics, economics, gender, and social inclusion. Based on these analyses, targeted interventions were developed. As a result, over 9,000 full-time jobs were created, and the earnings of the targeted beneficiaries in the focus sectors were increased.
