The Validation Workshop on the preliminary findings of the Kenya Biosciences Landscape Mapping Study was successfully held during #STRI4Society Week 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and being implemented by IPE Global in partnership with the University of Nairobi, the study aims to build a comprehensive understanding of Kenya’s biosciences landscape across healthcare, agricultural biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, and the broader bioeconomy to support stronger innovation-led ecosystem development.
The workshop brought together stakeholders from government, academia, research institutions, industry, innovation ecosystem organisations, development partners, investors, and policy bodies to validate the study findings and help refine recommendations around ecosystem coordination, research commercialisation, innovation financing, talent development, policy strengthening, and future growth opportunities for Kenya’s biosciences sector.
Hosted as part of #STRI4Society Week 2026, Kenya’s flagship platform connecting science, technology, research, and innovation with national development priorities, the workshop marked an important step towards developing actionable recommendations to strengthen Kenya’s biosciences ecosystem.
The study is expected to contribute towards building a more coordinated, innovation-driven, and globally competitive biosciences landscape capable of accelerating research translation, supporting enterprise growth, strengthening local industries, and advancing Kenya’s position as a leading biosciences and bioeconomy hub in Africa.

Ricardo brings a unique combination of strategic insight and practical implementation expertise. He has led high-impact assignments for key development institutions, including the European Commission, OECD, GIZ, FCDO/DFID, UNDP, UNCTAD, EBRD, ILO, ADB, World Bank, USAID, and Danida.
With a deep and practical understanding of institutional architecture, policy environment, and post-conflict recovery dynamics, and a career spanning over 30 years across transition economies, Ricardo brings not only technical depth but also a trusted reputation among donors, policymakers and peers.He is leading Triple Line’s strategic expansion into continental Europe, including Ukraine, while strengthening our credibility across the broader region and beyond.
