He emphasised that fragmented climate action leaves mountain ecosystems exposed to immediate risks, from infrastructure stress to heightened disaster vulnerability.
“When global climate action is delayed or fragmented due to political and economic tensions, mountain regions like the Himalayas bear the immediate brunt through unseasonal snowfall, stressed infrastructure, and heightened disaster risks,” he said, highlighting the need for risk-informed infrastructure and accelerated policy and financing mechanisms to protect communities and ecosystems.
