Myanmar Research and Capacity Building Programme – 9th to 13th June2015

Under the Knowledge partnership programme which is designed and implemented by IPE Global Pvt. Ltd on behalf of the Government of UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), RIS (Research and Information system)  is conducting its final training of the Myanmar officials from 9th June till 13th of June 2015 in New Delhi. This is the fourth workshop on Trade Policy and Analysis.

The objective of the training is to ensure capacity development of Myanmar officials and analysts, on contemporary global and regional economic issues and emerging concerns and build local analytical capacity. This programmetargets participants from Myanmar with a view to inculcate an enhanced understanding on challenges and opportunities associated with the processes of globalization, regional integration and economic development.

As Myanmar moves towards a market oriented and more open economy, a need to undertake a capacity building project emerged during the initial stages of KPP implementation for Myanmar officials, policy makers and research scholars on contemporary global and regional economic issues.RIS with support from KPP is training Myanmar officials in the following five areas – world economic system and development; regional cooperation and integration; south-south cooperation and development; strategic responses to globalization; and economic analysis and policy planning.

GeethanjaliNatraj, Policy Lead, Trade and Investment, KPP said,“Myanmar needs capacity building to meet the future demand in international trade. As the issues are inter-linked each other, more demand-driven training programmes on trade and investment are important for key stakeholders from different institutions.”
