Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma held a meeting at his office this evening with representatives from IPE Global, the consultancy firm engaged to prepare the Thenzawl Peace City Master Plan. Pu K. Sapdanga, Minister of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA), also attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister stated that Thenzawl Peace City will be the first planned city in Mizoram, envisioned as a clean, well-organized, and beautiful township that will attract visitors and promote tourism as well as balanced urban growth. He emphasised the need for meticulous and high-quality planning, urging the team to work with commitment and excellence. He also noted that the State Project Monitoring Committee should be involved in reviewing and monitoring the progress of the project as required.
During the interaction, the IPE Global team shared their extensive experience in undertaking similar projects within and outside India, and presented their approach for developing the Peace City. The Pre-Bid Queries for the project had attracted 18 reputed firms, reflecting the scale and significance of the initiative. Following the tender process, IPE Global was selected as the consultant.
The firm operates in over 100 countries and has 20 offices across India, with vast experience in preparing City Master Plans nationwide. IPE Global will open its Mizoram office within three weeks and commence work immediately.
The visiting team was led by Mr. Anil Bansal, Senior Development Expert, accompanied by other technical experts. Senior Government officials, including Pu Sudir Kumar, Principal Secretary, GAD, and Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary, UD&PA, were also present at the meeting.
