Founder -JugniWomen are powerful enough to make things happen for themselves…
‘Jugni literally means the female firefly -the free spirited and full of life.’ Women don’t need to be given wings to reach the skies, need to be empowered or told what to do. They are powerful and capable enough.
We don't believe that women need to be given wings to reach the skies or that they need to be empowered or even that they need to be told what to do. They are powerful and capable enough to make things happen for themselves and it is this burning and bright spirit that we love to celebrate at Jugni.
We are a Delhi based start-up and our motto is very simple and that is to provide safe, personalized and affordable travel options to women across the country and abroad. As avid travelers, we think that traveling is important for everyone. It liberates you, it educates you, makes you a bolder person. It helps you overcome your fears by getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things. It makes you confident. As you see places, you learn a great deal about life and culture. You make new friends, exchange ideas and opinions which in turn broadens your outlook, gives you a global perspective. Travel has so many benefits. It can transform your life. Also, there are some things which can only be learnt by getting lost. We understood that early in life through our wanderlust and we wanted everyone to experience what we experienced in our journey to realization. Thus came the thought of having a one of a kind travel company that focuses on creating trips that are enriching and end with happy memories.
Starting a company for just women though was not our intention in the beginning. However, it was two years ago that we realized through mere observation that there was a need for a platform that allows women to travel safely without having to worry about anything, where they can let their hair down and just be themselves. No matter how progressive we think we are as a society, the fact is that women in India do face issues in traveling around apart from other things. We also realized that were was a serious need for change in mind-sets. On one hand, the world is debating over topics like equal rights for men and women and on the other hand, women especially in India are denied permission for many things. They are not allowed to take their own decisions, not allowed to explore their potential, not allowed to travel and see the world because, well they are women! But the thing we fail to accept is that women are powerhouses in their own. They are far more intuitive and strong. They don't need physical protection, they just need everyone else around them to understand that they are self-aware.
We know that we can’t change things overnight, we aren’t revolutionists either but we can help a little by being non-judgmental. Hence, Jugni came about with the principle of being totally non-intrusive. That means we only take the responsibility of organizing things and personally go along on each trip just to make sure there are no hiccups. On our trips, we let the ladies be free and shed their inhibitions. We let them laugh heartily and share their life stories. We let them speak their mind and even wander off on their own sometimes; under our watchful eye of course. We also don't believe on being fixed on destinations or making profits. For us, it is about people, creating experiences, bonding and about having the best travel intentions. We love women who are vocal in their thoughts and do not mind customizing our itinerary to fit in special requests. We appreciate feedback and reviews because that shows us where we stand and what needs to be improved. Our transparency, commitment to deliver on our claims and effort to make each trip special is what we think makes us a loved and cherished company.
With 47 trips completed over 32 off beat destinations, we only aim to continue to create and sell travel experiences instead of travel packages. Many of those women who have traveled with us have later confessed how our trips have helped them emerge into better people, how traveling with a group of complete strangers has been an unexpectedly enjoyable experience and some have even said that it has changed the way they looked at travel and how it has changed their lives forever. To that we say Amen!
We’ve received a lot of love and appreciation over these two years and that just motivates us to do better each day. We’d like to conclude our story with this quote by Rachel Wolchin that ‘if we were meant to stay in one place, we would have roots instead of feet’. We are Jugni and we urge you to travel!
