The five-year program focuses on improving SWM policies, planning, infrastructure, and services to tackle plastic pollution and address the lifecycle impact of plastic by promoting a circular economy and an innovative ecosystem. In association with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group, FICCI, Athena Infonomics, Pyxera Global, and Recycle India Foundation, the inREPLACE consortium envisages achieving the program objectives through the eight planned interventions viz. Plastic Waste Reduction Action Plan (P-RAP), City Challenge Fund (CCF), Capacity Building, including establishing Centres of Excellence, Green Nudges and Agents for Behaviour Change, Improvements for Informal Sector Workers (GARIMA), Zero Plastic Waste Rating System (ZPWRS), inREPLACE E-Marketplace focusing on Extended Producers Responsibility and inREPLACE Circularity Hub for scaling of innovations focusing on PWM and alternatives to plastics.
The program will be piloted in select states and cities (4-5 states), demonstrating scalable and replicable strategies and interventions.
